The world of post production spans various avenues of the music industry. Post production refers to any audio work performed after the initial video / multimedia production has been completed. EMENDY College’s Audio Post Production Course offers students the opportunity to educate themselves on all the various aspects in the post production field.

ABOUT THE COURSE
If you’re interests are to produce in a multi-channel capacity, design & record sound effects for video games; TV and film, or compose film music scores, this course will provide you with the technical knowledge as well as practical experience to enter the field of post production.
This 5 month, evening course covers all aspects of post production, from setting up a professional multi-channel working environment up to composing scores for video games, TV and film. In the APP course students will be taught the theoretical and technical aspects of post production which will then be put to practical use.
Each student will have the opportunity of recording & designing sound effects as accompaniment to various visual formats, in stereo as well as surround sound formats, by means of sound synthesis. Students will also gain practical experience in composition for visual media ranging from cartoons to big screen films.
Multi-channel formats, such as 5.1 surround sound, are covered in detail throughout this course including the history, setup and calibration of different surround sound environments as well as the final mix procedures and techniques.
Ever wonder how the sound of a bullet hitting its target is created? Students will get the opportunity to record Foley sound effects such as ‘sword stabbings’, fire, car engines and bullet flybys to name but a few, in order to sync the recording to visual media.
The APP course is the most comprehensive course with regards to post production education, covering every aspect of audio-visual post production theory and technique. This course will provide you with all the necessary tools and skills to enter a profession in the audio post production field.
Please note that the APP Course is an intermediate to advanced level course and requires English and computer literacy, as well as previous music production and sound engineering experience (basic level).

CLASSES
Classes consist of a 3-hour session (theoretical and practical), twice a week (Tuesdays 18:30 - 21:30 and Thursdays 18:30 - 21:00) as well as unscheduled practical sessions during the rest of the week. (Practical work can also be done at home)
Classes consist of 8 dedicated DAW workstations as well as group and individual studio sessions.
STARTING DATE
This 5 month course runs twice a year: Feb / July. Please contact EMENDY College reception to find out the exact starting date for the next course. Registration ends on the day the course starts.
The total duration of the course is 42 sessions (126 hours) excluding unscheduled practical hours for assignments and practical projects over a period of 5 months.
PRE REQUESITES AND REQUIREMENTS FOR APPLICATION
The requirements for this course are:
- Grade 10;
- Basic level of music production
- Computer literacy.
- Language - English (spoken and written)
SOFTWARE & HARDWARE
The course is mainly based on Cubase 5 / Nuendo (Music production software), as well as other industry standard music recording software, VST’s and hardware.
Once enrolled, a STUDENT automatically qualifies for student discount on all software and hardware at ORANGE Music retail shop for up to 50%. This one time opportunity only applies for registered students for the duration of their studies.
CERTIFICATION & ACCREDITATION
Upon completion of this course, students will receive a certificate accredited by “Steinberg”, one of the leading institutes in music technology education and software. .
